Introduction

Process Mapping for Process Improvement Certification is the most professional, comprehensive, and effective business process mapping method available anywhere. This is a 5-day online course that teaches students how to develop a detailed & thorough process map, analyze supporting process information, define business system connectivity, identify Red Clouds (improvement opportunities), and build an actionable 90-day process improvement plan.

Most processes are undefined, missing metrics, loaded with non-value added work, disconnected from customers, and lacking accountability. The Perigon® Playbook

The Perigon® Playbook includes BEM’s proprietary design of templates, symbols, stencils, matrices, instructions, and best practices using Microsoft Visio and Excel. It becomes a process manual comprised of four sections:

  • 1. SCORECARD summarizes process characteristics,
  • 2. ARCHITECTURE MAP shows the process SIPOC - suppliers, inputs, (high level) process, outputs, and customers,
  • 3. PROCESS MAP details process tasks, decisions, and inputs and outputs, and
  • 4. KNOWLEDGE MATRICES contain analysis of process characteristics, including information, responsibilities, transactions, value, metrics, Red Clouds, and the Process Improvement Plan.

The Perigon® Playbook contains an organization’s intellectual property that enhances enterprise value.

Perigon® Certifiication

Course Agenda

Process Mapping for Process Improvement teaches students to create process maps, assign responsibilities, detail process information requirements, capture Red Clouds, identify Quick Wins, and deliver 90-day process improvements. Students need a Windows device with functional camera, Zoom Video, Microsoft Visio (desktop version), Microsoft Excel, and a PDF Reader.

Day 1: Process Principles & Basic with Visio

Students receive and load the Perigon® Library and learn the basic Visio functions necessary to build Perigon® Maps.

Day 2: Building the Process Architecture Map, Building the First Pass Process Map

Students define their architecture map’s major customers, suppliers, and the main products or services that a process receives and delivers. The First Pass Map captures 65 to 75% of the process.

Day 3: Second Pass Map, Boundary Analysis Workshop, Process Analysis - Task, RACI, & Value

Students refine the first pass to a next level of completeness, between 85 and 95%. They then complete a boundary analysis to assess connectivity, followed by beginning process analysis in Task, RACI, and Value.

Day 4: Process Analysis - Information, Transaction, the Customer Value Assessment

Students perform additional, more detailed process analysis of information used, customer value delivered, and hardware/software process interaction.

Day 5: Process Analysis - Metrics, Opportunity Analysis, Planning for Process Improvement

Students assess process metrics and Red Clouds, looking for Quick Win improvement opportunities.
